        BETHEL LIONS CLUB SCHOLARSHIP FUND

 

 

Purpose

The purpose of the fund is to provide a scholarship to a two or four year institution for students graduating from Bethel Regional High School or Bethel Alternative Boarding School in the spring of the school year. 

 

Scholarship Criteria

 

  1. Academic requirements include submission of high school transcript, with a minimum 2.5 GPA.
  2. School-Community involvement
  3. Letter of recommendation from a teacher and Site Administrator
  4. Essay (Choose One – Scholarship Guidelines List)
  5. The university/school must notify the Bethel Lions Club by October 31 of the current school year.  If there is no verification from the college/school that the student is enrolled the scholarship is forfeited.
  6. You may apply for one General and one Specific Scholarship.  However only one(1) scholarship will be awarded to an individual.


General Scholarship Guidelines (Select One)

Five (5) Lions Scholarships will be awarded this year.  The amount of each scholarship will be $500. A 500 Word Essay – Topic “How will college enable me to enrich the lives of others in Bethel.”   Scholarship 2008-49A-100

Specific Scholarship Guidelines (Select One)


 

Lions Vocation/Technical Education Scholarship

One scholarship will be awarded this year.  The amount of each scholarship will be $1,500 to be awarded as follows:  $750 for year one and upon submission of official transcripts for first two semesters of college/post secondary credits with a C or better in all subjects the second $750 will be awarded for the second year of college/post secondary work.  A 500 Word Essay – topic “How will my training enable me to enrich the lives of others in Bethel.” Scholarship

Lions Educational Scholarship

One scholarship will be awarded this year in the amount of $1,500 to be award as follows:  $750 for year one and upon submission of official transcripts for two semesters of college/post secondary credits with a C or better in all subjects the second $750 will be awarded for the second year of college/post secondary work.   A 500 Word Essay – Topic – “My plans to use my education degree to help students in Bethel to achieve higher goals”.  Student required to be an Education Major

“Bill Bivin Memorial Scholarship” 

One scholarship will be awarded this year in the amount of  $1,500 to be award as follows:  $750 for year one and upon submission of official transcripts for  two semesters of credits with a C or better in all subjects the second $750 will be awarded for the second year of college/post secondary work.   A 500 Word Essay – Topic – “My goals to use this degree to better the lives of the people in Bethel”.  Student required to be a Business/Accounting College Major

“Randall Kaycon Memorial Scholarship”

One scholarship will be awarded this year in the amount of  $1,500 to be award as follows:  $750 for year one and upon submission of official transcripts for  two semesters of credits with a C in all subjects the second $750 will be awarded for the second year of college/post secondary work.   A 500 Word Essay – Topic – “How a degree in this area benefits the natural/ecological status of the Kuskokwim Delta”.  Student required to be majoring in one of the following areas: Biology/Marine Science/Fish and Natural Science/Fish and Wildlife Management/Environmental Science/Ecology.
